Asked by: Siva Hi team, I am planning to buy new compact SUV under 20 lakhs, confused between New Hyundai venue petrol dct and diesel tc. I heard diesel is not fuel efficient and dct is overheating if we drive more in traffic. I prefer diesel cars but iam not able to find a better mileage diesel automatic cars in the segment. I am open to any other compact SUV that should feature tech listed, fuel efficient, long engine lifespan, mainly should be sub 4 meter. Please suggest. The Hyundai Venue with a diesel-automatic powertrain is efficient, but it would be more efficient with a manual gearbox. However, compared to a petrol-DCT, the diesel will definitely be better if mileage is the priority. The other option would be the Tata Nexon, which also has a frugal diesel engine. The downside, is the AMT gearbox that isn't as smooth or efficient as the torque converter on the Venue. The Hyundai car also has more features, a well-sorted and high-quality cabin and a better after-sales network. Asked by: Ram I currently own a 2020 Tata Tiago petrol, and have driven about 100,000 km over the last five years. I’m now looking to upgrade. I expect to drive around 1,800–2,000 km per month. My budget is ₹10-12 lakh, and I’m considering switching to a diesel car. Given my usage, would you recommend switching to diesel or sticking with petrol - and which car should I upgrade to? Considering your high annual usage, a diesel SUV would be a better choice for you. The Kia Sonet with a diesel engine would be a good upgrade for you. It has a torquey 1.5-litre diesel engine that is refined and has good punch on highways while also being efficient. The 6-speed manual gearbox is slick to use, and within your budget, you can opt for the Kia Sonet HTK+ trim that gets a well-appointed cabin as well. Equipment like automatic climate control, reversing camera with sensors and a better quality interior and bigger boot tips the scales to the Sonet. Asked by: Anita Hi, I’m looking for a 7-seater petrol car within a budget of ₹15 lakh. Are there any options available? Currently, there are two models that fit your requirements - the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and the Kia Carens Clavis. Both have spacious cabins that are reasonably comfortable for seven passengers, and both come with naturally aspirated 1.5-litre petrol engines. The Ertiga, however, will be more fuel efficient and, being a Maruti car, it'll also come with a stress-free ownership experience. The Kia car, on the other hand, offers many more features, and it can even be had with either a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol or 1.5-litre diesel engine options. Asked by: Subrat Kumar I want a petrol manual car with a 5-star GNCAP safety rating, at least four (or another even number of) cylinders, excellent fuel efficiency, and long-term reliability so I can run it for around 20 years. I’m new to earning and have a limited budget. Please suggest suitable options. Looking at your requirements of reliability and fuel efficiency, along with a good safety rating, we would recommend you look at the Maruti Suzuki Dzire. It is a three-cylinder engine; however, this should not be something you should worry about as the unit has adequate performance, in fact, a very good low-speed response. The Dzire is a sedan, but it fits within the sub-4 meter footprint, and that, along with its light controls, will make it an easy drive for you. Can’t decide which car to buy?
