Asked by: pradeep kothari Looking for an SUV in the budget of 25-35 lacs. A 5-seater that is comfortable for me. Was inclined towards Tuscan, but is it worth spending that much, considering the Tata Harrier is available cheaper? First preference is a hybrid with an NCPA rating of 5.0. If a hybrid is your top priority, you can look at the Innova Hycross VX and VX (O) trims. Keep in mind, though, that it is a full-size SUV. For something more compact, the Toyota Hyryder, Maruti Grand Vitara, and the upcoming Maruti Victoris are good options. The Hyundai Tucson is positioned as a premium SUV, but it does not offer a hybrid powertrain, and many of its features are also available in other, more comfortable and spacious SUVs. Apart from hybrids, the Mahindra XUV700 in its 5-seater version is also worth considering. Asked by: Dhaval Kothari Need a 7–8 seater diesel for a family of 4 (including senior citizen parents) + frequent intercity business trips with lots of luggage. Loved the Toyota Innova, but it’s over budget. Any reliable, comfortable alternatives I can buy before Diwali? Currently drive a diesel Ford Aspire. Since your preference is a diesel, there are limited options. The Innova Crysta is the best choice, but if it’s over budget, it is worth checking the Kia Carens Clavis. It’s not as spacious as the Innova, but it is decent, feature-loaded, and has a good ingress-egress suitable for the elderly. You can also split-fold the third row to open up the boot space, but with the three rows up, you will have to compromise on luggage. If not a diesel, you can check out the Maruti XL6 / Ertiga. They are available at a lower price, have a strong Maruti network, and can accommodate 7 with ease. Finally, you can also check out used Innova Crysta, as they are highly reliable and robust. Asked by: Rahul Suri I’m stuck between the Tata Safari and the Mahindra XUV700. After the new GST rates were announced, has the price gap between these two SUVs been reduced? Which one offers better value now in terms of safety and features at around 23–24 lakh? Between the Tata Safari and the XUV700, the Mahindra is the better SUV. It is more comfortable, has strong engines, and has better features. The Safari scores well on design and is a bit tougher over bad sections, but as a package, the Mahindra XUV700 is better. There is also the Hyundai Alcazar that gets multiple powertrain options, a rich feature list, and Hyundai’s better service experience. However, it isn’t as strong as the XUV700, and you will have to compromise on third-row space. All things considered, we recommend the Mahindra XUV700. Asked by: Rajesh Nagpal Please advise me to buy my last car at the age of 68 years in the price range of 10 Lack, as my running is about 500 km per month in Delhi & Noida. I want an SUV that is comfortable and convenient to use, and can be sold easily with good resale value. While it may stretch your ₹10 lakh budget a little, we would suggest the Maruti Suzuki Brezza VXi. Brezza VXi on road price in Delhi starts with Rs. 11.03 lakh. It’s spacious, comfortable, practical, efficient, and above all, hassle-free and reliable. Plus, being a Maruti car, it will also give you excellent resale value when you plan to sell it.
