Is Mahindra launching the XUV300 diesel automatic in 2025? I am not referring to the 3XO but the older XUV300 design. Please help, would it be a good change after the S-Cross diesel 1.3?
The old XUV300 design will not return, as the Mahindra 3XO is its facelift and replacement. Since you are looking for a diesel car, options that offer an upgrade in features and a similar size include the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. If you prefer a Mahindra, you will need to stretch your budget slightly and consider the XUV700, which also comes with a diesel engine.

I am purchasing Tata Punch Adventure plus petrol variant. Is it a good purchase for a monthly 100-200 km run and save on maintenance cost?
The Tata Punch is a good car, but if low maintenance cost is your priority, it’s still hard to beat brands like Maruti Suzuki. You can consider the Fronx Delta variant, which is slightly more expensive but larger, with a spacious rear seat and a big boot.

My budget is Rs 15 lakh. I am very happy with my Ciaz, but since it has been with me for over seven years, I would like to sell it and buy something similar. I drive around 35 km every day. Safety, space, low maintenance, and fuel efficiency are the key things I am looking for in my next car.
There aren’t too many sedan options in the market today that offer the same value proposition as the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz. The Honda City is a good replacement if you want to stick with a sedan. If you are open to SUV, the Maruti Victoris Mild Hybrid is a worthy option to consider.

I commute around 100 km daily from Hosur to Bangalore for my job. I’m planning to buy an electric scooter or bike within a budget of ₹2 lakh (I can stretch it slightly if there’s a really good option). Can you please suggest which electric vehicle would be most suitable for this daily long-distance travel? Also, is it reliable to use an electric scooter or bike for 7–8 years without facing any major issues?
Considering the distance you cover every day, we would recommend you go for an EV from the proven players such as TVS, Bajaj, Hero (Vida) or Ather with a battery capacity of 5kWh or more, so you have a healthy buffer for errands and spontaneity. Since TVS is the only one to offer an EV with a battery capacity suiting your needs in the form of its iQube ST 5.3, that is the option we would recommend. Not only has the iQube cemented its reputation for reliability and comfort, it has now been on sale for close to six years without any major problems reported by owners. It also falls well within your budget.

My running is around 2,500 to 3,000 kilometres every month. I currently drive an i20 CRDi diesel and have covered 3,70,000 kilometres over the last 15 years. Which would be a better choice for me, a strong hybrid or an electric vehicle? Should I wait a little longer for better models?
An electric vehicle will prove to be far more economical for you if you primarily plan to charge it at home. Most new-age EVs like the Mahindra BE6, Hyundai Creta EV and Tata Harrier EV can comfortably handle highway trips of around 300–400 km on a single charge. So yes, if you have access to home charging, an EV would be the better choice for you.

Hi, I want to purchase a new car for my wife as a replacement for the Santro, with similar dimensions. Her daily office commute is around 30 km. Will an EV make sense?
Purely from a financial point of view, a petrol car will be a sensible option since the daily usage is limited. However, an EV like a MG Comet or Tata Tiago EV, will be far smoother and quieter than any ICE automatic option. So, get an EV only for the superior drive experience.

I want to buy a new car with budget of 12 Lacs, my daily running would be from home to workplace which is approx 90 Kms (one side) and back to home. Please suggest which fuel type and which car should I prefer based on mileage / running cost and maintenance .
An EV like a Tata Punch or an entry level MG Windsor will be most economical. An Tata Altroz diesel will be your next best option.

I’m planning to buy a third car but torn between the Mercedes GLA (luxury) and the Škoda Kodiaq (premium and larger). I already have a Honda City 5th Gen and a Toyota Hycross Hybrid. Which one makes more sense to buy?
A Skoda Kodiaq is better equipped, more spacious, and it is more powerful than the Mercedes GLA petrol. A Volkswagen Tiguan R Line is also something you can consider, which is a bit sportier to drive than the Kodiaq, and now with huge discounts, is a tempting option.

My monthly running is 700 km, with 50% city and 50% Highway, I'm owing Tata Altroz petrol and looking for upgrade, I've shortlisted Maruti Fronx cng, breeza cng and Punch cng due to running cost. Which car would be better among this, I don't want to stretch my budget too much.
The Tata Punch CNG would be a good option for you. The main advantage the Punch CNG has over the Maruti Suzuki Fronx and Brezza CNG is that you get a proper usable boot space. The CNG tanks in the Punch are placed under the boot floor, while they are in the boot in the Marutis. However if boot space isn’t a concern, its worth considering the Brezza as it has a roomier cabin and a smoother 1.5-litre engine.

I am planning to buy the 2024 Mercedes GLC. My question is whether I should go for the diesel or the petrol engine. I usually drive in the city, covering around 8,000 km a year. I’m also getting the diesel version for Rs 2 lakh less. Please give me a detailed answer to help me with this dilemma. Hoping for a quick reply.
Since your running will be considerable, it’ll be worth going for the Mercedes-Benz GLC 220d diesel. While it won’t be as refined as the petrol, the diesel will offer better fuel efficiency and the fact that you’re getting the diesel for Rs 2 lakh cheaper, sweetens the deal further.
