Asked by: Jeyagopal I’m upgrading my car and looking for an MPV or SUV with a seven-seater option. My budget is ₹25 lakh, and I’m considering upcoming 2026 models. My monthly usage is around 2,000–3,000 km. Please advise whether I should buy a petrol or diesel, and which models to consider right now. Considering you drive up to 3,000km a month, a diesel makes more sense for you. Among SUVs within your budget, the Tata Safari offers the most comfort with enough space even in the third row. MPV options include the well-rounded Kia Carens Clavis diesel, and you could even look at the Toyota Innova Crysta. Sure, the Crysta feels old, but it still delivers on seat comfort and long-distance ability. Asked by: Prashant I’m a first-time scooter buyer and confused about whether to go for a petrol or electric one. I find 125cc scooters a bit heavy, so I prefer something smaller. My budget is around ₹1 lakh. I work from home and don’t ride daily. I’m looking for a typical family scooter. Please suggest. In the 110cc scooter space, we would recommend the TVS Jupiter because it is practical, frugal, within your budget, and in its latest avatar, also looks rather snazzy. In the 125cc scooter segment, the Suzuki Access or Honda Activa 125 would be our picks - both are very refined, comfortable, and have the practicality expected of a scooter. The interesting thing is that Jupiter weighs 106kg, which is the same as the Access, and the Activa is just 1 kilo heavier, at 107kg. So, weight should be a non-issue.Considering your limited usage and 1L budget, the only electric scooter that we would recommend is the TVS iQube 2.2 because it is relatively light at 110kg and also one of the more affordable options. Asked by: BARATH JEGAN My family has grown since I bought my first car, a Hyundai Elite i20 Asta CVT. Now we’re six members: me, my wife, two kids, and two elders. We need two cars: one primarily driven by me and one for my wife. Our daily commute totals about 50 km across both vehicles, mostly within the city on highway-like routes. We also take 4-5 trips a year with the whole family. The combined budget for both cars is ₹50–55 lakh. I’m currently considering the Volkswagen Virtus GT Plus and waiting for the Mahindra XEV 7e (electric for experience & cost). The Volkswagen Virtus GT is a fun choice, but being a sedan, getting in and out might not be the most convenient for the elderly. The Volkswagen Taigun GT offers a similar driving experience with the added advantage of higher seating. As for the Mahindra XEV 7e, we’re yet to drive it, but if it’s similar to the XEV 9e, it should be a compelling package. We’ll be driving the XEV 7e soon, so stay tuned for our full review. Asked by: Sameer Aggarwal I want to buy an SUV (petrol or diesel, manual) with a budget of ₹18–20 lakh. My average running is 1,200–1,400 km per month, mostly in the city with occasional long drives. Mileage is important. I’m confused between the Tata Harrier, Mahindra XUV700, and Hyundai Creta — can you suggest which one to pick, or recommend better options? Since good fuel economy is a key consideration for you, a diesel will fit your needs better. Among your options, the Mahindra XUV700 diesel is the most well-rounded choice. Its diesel engine is smooth and powerful. The XUV700 mileage is 17kpl for the manual diesel engine, which is fair for an SUV of this size. The Hyundai Creta is smaller, and its diesel engine is less powerful. Creta mileage is 21.8kpl for the manual diesel; therefore, fuel economy will be significantly better than the XUV700's in case your decision entirely hinges on fuel economy.
