Asked by: Santosh Thombare I’m planning to buy a new car but am confused between ICE and EV. My budget is ₹20 lakh and I want the top model only. I’m choosing between the Tata Nexon EV 45 Red Dark and the newly launched Hyundai Venue Diesel Automatic. My monthly commute is about 500 km. My concerns: long-term EV tech, resale value, and battery health/service availability for the Nexon EV; and DPF problems if the Venue diesel isn’t driven often. Please help me decide. Both the issues you mentioned are valid, and we completely understand your concern.Between the two, however, the diesel DPF issue is very much in your hands. If you don’t drive for a sufficiently long period, the car will prompt you to drive a DPF regeneration cycle, which may happen occasionally. Once you complete this cycle, the DPF will be perfectly fine. The EV resale issue, on the other hand, is still uncertain. It’s difficult to predict how the market will move in time. So, in this case, the Hyundai Venue diesel would be the safer bet. Asked by: Akash Yadav I want to buy a diesel car. My monthly use will be around 1,000-1,200 km, with roughly 30% city and 70% highway driving. My on-road budget is ₹15 lakh. My priorities are safety, mileage, features, and comfort - please suggest suitable options. The Hyundai Creta would be our pick. It offers a good blend of an efficient diesel engine, lots of features, great comfort, and reasonable safety too.If you’re looking for something with better crash safety, the Tata Curvv is a good option - so is the Scorpio N. However, keep in mind that while the Scorpio N has a good crash rating, its high-speed handling on highways isn’t as good as the Creta or Curvv. Also, mileage would be lower in this case.
