Asked by: Praveen Wadhonka I have shortlisted the XUV700 diesel automatic and MG Hector petrol automatic (since MG doesn’t offer a diesel automatic) because both have a flat second-row floor. Does the Tata Sierra also have a flat second-row floor? Which SUV would you recommend between the XUV700 and the MG Hector? Yes, the Tata Sierra does have a relatively flat floor in the rear seat, with only a small riser, as it is a front-wheel-drive SUV with no AWD version as of now, and therefore does not need a transmission tunnel passing through the car. The front centre console with the rear AC vents and USB ports does stick out quite a bit though.Between the XUV700 and the MG Hector, the MG has a softer, more comfortable ride for rear-seat passengers, since you have inquired about rear-seat space. However, it does not offer a diesel automatic, so you would need to opt for the petrol CVT, which is not very fuel-efficient. The Mahindra XUV700 is still quite comfortable and does offer petrol and diesel engines with auto gearboxes. Asked by: Rohit Manchanda Hi, I am a regular reader of your page. Your suggestions are excellent. I want to buy a 5-seater diesel car. My running is around 1,500 km per month, and my budget is Rs 12-15 lakh. Is the Tata Nexon diesel AMT a good option? While the Tata Nexon AMT is a good choice, the Kia Sonet would be a better buy. It has a nicer, well-finished interior, the infotainment and touchscreen interface is a lot better, and the overall quality is nicer. The diesel engine, too, is more refined, and the torque converter automatic gearbox is smoother than the AMT. You also get more equipment and kit, and Kia's aftersales is better than what Tata offers. The downsides are space in the rear is not as much as the Nexon, but if that is not a high priority for you, the Kia Sonet diesel is a very strong option worth considering. The HTX variant in particular. Can’t decide which car to buy? Ask our experts and get answers to all your car related queries. Ask experts
